Dan's Ear

January 7, 2005- I was out riding my snowboard after the first decent amount of snow came down. I had done my first 180 on a little jump. I was really happy.

So after we rode the little jump for awhile, the guys decided to put a little rail up to the jump so we could launch off of the jump and land on the rail. No problem, right? Wrong.

The first try went really well, almost nailing a boardslide down it, but I leaned back too far back and fell on my butt.

The second time I went up to the jump and before I made it on the rail, I hit the very beginning of it and it instantly made me fly forward and I landed my head on the very end of the rail, specifically my inner ear. I stayed on the ground not moving for a minute or two and got up to see massive amounts of blood on the ground. My coat was getting a pretty good amount of blood on it too, as was my beanie and gloves. I finally got up with the help of my friends and girlfriend and we went to the ER. It was a very jagged cut that was hard to sow up, said the doctor. He ended up putting in two internal stitches, because I ripped through the cartalige as well as the skin, and 7 external stitches. All in all, I still have a headache and it still hurts.
